"Is there no balm in Gilead: is there no
physician there?" Jeremiah 8:22

It is clear that there is balm in Gilead and
there was a physician there because the
prophet asked, "Why then is not the health
of the daughter of my people recovered?"

In the same prophecy the daughter of
Egypt is urged to go up to Gilead to take
the balm but told that it is in vain for her
to take 'many medicines', because she will
not be cured that way.
